UPDATE: The management team called me and corrected this error. We got the cake we needed. Thank you so much! Very disappointed that I called on Thursday to order the coconut pineapple filled cake and was told it could be made, but required a 1 weeks notice in order to receive the pineapple filling because it was not on hand. The lady who answered said she could not charge me for it at the time but to just call back the next day or any other day to order with the cashier. I call back Saturday and the cashier tells me they cannot do it. What the hell?? I told her someone told me it’s possible and to please ask the bakers. I don’t need this cake until end of September and it’s currently August 22nd. There should be plenty of time to acquire the pineapple by then which was the only concern of not being able to fulfill the order. I told her that’s probably why 1 weeks notice is required vs the typical 24-48hrs. I asked her if she could take my name and number to please ask around but she just put me on a brief hold instead and probably only asked 1 person. Came by to satisfy a sweet tooth! Also ordered a spontaneous cake. snickerdoodle cookie $3.99 cake slices $8.99 cupcake $5.25 strawberry cake 6 inch $59.99 $3 for inscriptions Staff is friendly, though, there are quite a bit of issues with some account syncing for whatever reason. Street parking. Limited parking in the back lot.

This review is for customer service and employee working there. I love their cakes and cupcakes. Very disappointed to be refused to use the restroom at the business. I was told it’s only for employees use, even though i have used it when some manager was there one time, and after mentioning that, they said they changed the rules. I mean, i am a regular customer and not a random walk in to just use the restroom in downtown. No business really does this, like they did. Having a full restroom, and not allow customers to use it. What kind of rules does that come in. Lost a customer due to bad manner and so called rules.

I ordered a jelly cat cake and when i picked it up the cake looked nothing like the photos description that the website has. The legs are coming apart, the red on it isn’t even red it’s brown, the whole outer coating isn’t the light color that is on the photos, it’s dark. overall i’m disappointed because I spent 100 dollars for a cake that isn’t even up to expectations of the websites photo expectations it holds it to. What a waste of my money!

I’ve been a fan of SusieCakes since day one—literally. I actually have the distinction of writing the very first Yelp review for their Brentwood/LA location when it opened back in 2006, which feels like a lifetime ago now. Back then (and still today), I would devour slices of their red velvet cake like there was no tomorrow. All their cakes and cupcakes have the perfect amount of light sweetness and it’s been amazing to watch SusieCakes grow over the years. That original magic of feeling like you’re eating a homemade cake your grandmother made you is what keeps me coming back. The chocolate cake is my husband’s favorite (tastes like REAL dark chocolate, not processed, overly-sweet chocolate) and my dad’s favorite is the vanilla. I gotta stand by my OG love for the red velvet. Some things really do stand the test of time. So glad this location in my hometown of San Jose exists today. Anyone who has anything negative to say about Susiecakes probably thinks Hostess cupcakes and Twinkies are good.
